Broadstairs was a great and unforgettable experience. It wasn’t just a normal school trip — we learned a lot, had fun, and spent time together in a new culture. From the beginning, our homestay families were very friendly and helped us feel comfortable. We met many interesting people, both from the school and from the town, and we quickly started to feel like a part of daily British life.
We didn’t only improve our grammar and vocabulary, but also our speaking and social skills. Every day we had chances to talk in English, both in class and outside. The lessons were helpful and interesting, and the teachers in England were very kind. They understood where German speakers often make mistakes and showed us how to avoid them. This helped us feel more confident, especially with our final English exams.
The afternoon and evening programmes were fun and brought us closer as a group. We went bowling, sang karaoke, played games and just enjoyed spending time together. We made a lot of inside jokes and memories that we still talk about now. These activities made everything feel more relaxed and helped us get to know each other better.
London was a highlight for many of us. We had different options, so we could choose what we liked best. Some of us saw musicals like The Lion King or Hamilton, others went to the ABBA concert or visited the British Museum. We also did several walking tours, and one of them was especially exciting — a spooky tour about Jack the Ripper. We learned about the dark side of London’s history and visited places connected to the story, which was both scary and interesting.
One day we also visited the Harry Potter Studios. For fans of the books and movies, it was a dream come true. We saw real sets, costumes and props, and learned how they made the films. It felt like we were walking through the wizarding world.
Outside the city, we also spent time exploring nature. We went hiking along the white cliffs on the Isle of Thanet, where we enjoyed the fresh air and beautiful views. The walks were a nice break from the busy days, and we could just enjoy being outside. We also had free time at the beach in Broadstairs. We swam, played games, relaxed in the sun and had a lot of fun there.
If we had the chance to go back to Broadstairs, most of us would say yes without thinking. We learned a lot — not just English, but also about each other and ourselves. We made great memories and would definitely recommend this trip to others.
