Language Stay in Malta 2025

As part of our BM education, multiple classes from the BMZ travelled to Malta to take part in a language course. Around 130 students participated, accompanied by 4 teachers. We attended classes at the European School of English in Saint Julian’s. Prior to the classes we took a placement test to assess our level of English, and were placed into different classes accordingly. Our teachers included people from multiple countries such as Romania, Venezuela, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Over the course of 9 days of schooling, we improved our English skills in all aspects. We worked on grammar, reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. Our teachers were down to earth and very friendly and engaged, making our lessons enjoyable and effective. Now some of us even feel confident enough to attempt the Cambridge CAE / C1 examination!

We also participated in free time activities organised by the school. There was plenty of variety, for instance we took a boat trip to Gozo and Comino, the other Maltese islands, and a day trip to Mdina, the old capital of Malta. We were rewarded for our hard work with afternoons on the beach, playing football, jetskiing and paintballing.

Another positive experience during our stay in Malta was learning about its culture and history. For example, we learned that its culture is influenced by its colonial past. The Maltese language is Semitic and a unique combination of Arabic, Maghrebi, Latin and Sicilian. We tasted rabbit for the first time as it is a speciality in Malta. We learned that the country has 365 Catholic churches. Malta is an archipelago off the coast of Tunisia and the weather was sunny and warm.

Overall, it was a great experience and we really enjoyed our trip. The trip was well organised, the people were welcoming and friendly, and the food was delicious. It was a worthwhile experience and we are grateful that we had the chance to go on this great language stay.
